A haven for bohemian-minded New Orleanians that live in the Carrollton area, Z'otz has become (at least in my opinion) a modern landmark on Oak Street. Although Z'otz is just one of many coffee shops within this neighborhood, it stands out for its amateurish provocative art and subterranean, semi-gothic atmosphere. Also, from the baristas to the clientèle, there is always a potpourri of interesting characters hanging out inside this funky cafe or in its back courtyard. However, none of this is should persuade anyone who is more conservative at heart from stopping by for a cup of chicory coffee or mate tea, because what really makes Z'otz special is the service. For people who really want to experience New Orleans hospitality, there is no other coffee shop in Uptown that tops this locally-owned cafe. The staff are incredibility friendly and always willing to help you out with suggestions from what to drink to where to hang-out in the crescent city. Likewise, it is a true local establishment and is always filled with customers that live within a few blocks,and, thus, serves as a center for conversations about the neighborhood. If you sit around long enough, you can get the inside scope on what's going on in the neighborhood.
